Antilop Group today launches Restra Environmental Services Group AB (“Restra”), a Nordic environmental services group created through the merger of five leading bio waste-to-energy companies. By bringing together local entrepreneurs across Sweden and Norway, Restra scales the production of domestically sourced, renewable bioenergy. The group has a combined turnover of approximately SEK 400 million.
Sweden has substantial untapped potential in domestically sourced, renewable bioenergy, yet still imports approximately 1.5 million tonnes of waste annually for incineration. Restra’s ambition is to reduce reliance on imported waste and foreign feedstock by unlocking up to 50 TWh of additional energy potential from forest residues — equivalent to Sweden’s annual nuclear power generation.
At launch, Restra consists of Skogsbränsle Småland, BioDrift, Naturskog, Naturskog Biofuel and SkogAx and operates across Sweden and Norway. Each company will continue to operate under their existing brands and remain under the leadership of their local entrepreneurs, who also become shareholders in Restra – ensuring strong local commitment and aligned long-term incentives.
“We are seeing strong interest from entrepreneurs who want to retain operational independence while benefiting from the scale and capabilities of a larger group. By building Restra together with these entrepreneurs, we are creating a platform that compounds value and operational excellence over time,” says Joakim Blom, Group CEO of Restra, who brings more than 25 years of industry experience.
Restra is backed by the Sweden-based investment company Antilop Group, which combines a hands-on operational team with a long-term and experienced owner base. Antilop has positioned Restra for sustained expansion through organic growth as well as selective acquisitions across the Nordic region.
“Restra is fully funded with committed capital already in place. That allows us to scale with discipline and a truly long-term perspective as we build a Nordic leader in the industry,” says Carl Mönefors, Executive Chairman of Restra.
“We are proud to launch Restra alongside such highly regarded entrepreneurs. Restra is a platform with strong industrial logic and contributes to Nordic resilience and energy self-sufficiency at a time when it is more critical than ever,” says Gabriel Sjöström, Founding Partner & Chairman of Antilop Group.
